Patrick Bamford won an early penalty after he was bought down by Nick Pope, Bamford ripped the ball into the top corner to score the only goal of the match to take his side to 11th position for the time being.

Burnley travelled to Ellan Road to face Leeds United for the first time in the Premier League.

Within just 5 minutes of kick-off between the Clarets and The Whites, Elland Road saw the first and only goal of the match after Struijk played a beautiful long ball behind the Burnley defence for Bamford who showed perfect control of the ball before being taking down by the Burnley keeper Nick Pope and conceding a penalty. Their regular penalty kick taker Mateusz Klich handed the ball to Patrick Bamford who won the penalty and then confidently scored from the spot into the top corner. Patrick Bamford has now scored 10 goals for Leeds United in the Premier League.

In the 18th minute, Burnley had a goal ruled out after Meslier clattered into Ben Mee and Ashley Barnes fired the ball into the net. Although the goal was disallowed, replay suggested it should have gone Burnley’s way. Later on in the second half, Pope made a finger tip save to keep Burnley in the game after Pablo Hernández came off the bench leading a counter attack but was denied brilliantly by Pope.

Burnley had a total of 14 shots but couldn’t get their shooting boots right today. Meslier had an impressive game as he made some impressive saves in the dying minutes of the game as Burnley searched for an equaliser. After a lot of Burnley pressure at the end, Leeds managed to defend with their bodies on the line to take the 3 points home.
