Jesse Marsch’s summer rebuild at Elland Road doesn’t seem to end any time soon with more signings expected to arrive. The signings of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen and Darko Gyabi have strengthened Marsch’s side considerably for next season with the club wanting to avoid a repeat of last season’s relegation escape. According to Italian news outlet Il Resto del Carlino, Leeds United have now “requested” a transfer for Sassuolo’s Hamed Traore. AC Milan are also said to be in the race to sign the Ivorian midfielder and are set to compete with Leeds United for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnaveli has admitted that the Serie A club have received a request from Leeds United but will not sell more than 2 players this summer transfer window. Gianluca Scamacca and David Fratesi are the players reportedly on the move with Paris Saint Germain and AS Roma keeping tabs on the duo respectively.

AC Milan and Leeds United have been mentioned a lot in reports coming from Italy with the two clubs having the same transfer targets this season. Noa Lang, De Ketelaere and now Traore have all been pursued by both the clubs though no agreement has been reached with any of the above-mentioned players.

There remains concrete interest in the trio with Stefano Pilo, AC Milan’s manager, wanting to bring in De Ketelaere as his priority with Gazzetta dello Sport citing that the Italian clubs do not have Hamed Traore as their priority this summer.

Author’s Verdict

Leeds could do without investing in another midfielder this season with Marc Roca already signed and the interest in RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Camara further puts the move for Traore in jeopardy. The transfer of Kalvin Philipps to Manchester City has now already been sealed means the club wants to leave no stone unturned in replacing their star midfielder this window. AC Milan’s interest being in other targets could be a boon for Leeds who could sign Traore for a fee, which hasn’t been disclosed in reports yet but shouldn’t be very expensive.
