Amid the rumours coming out that Kalvin Phillips could leave Leeds United in this summer transfer window, his agent Kevin Sharp has suggested that the England International has no desire whatsoever to leave his boyhood club.
While talking to the I newspaper, Kevin Sharp said: “Before Kalvin signed his last contract [a five-year deal in 2019], we had good interest so we sat down and explored all the pros and cons. His desire was never to leave, it was to be rewarded and stay and play for the team he supported as a kid.”
“There may be clubs who are actually looking at Kalvin now because the more successful you are – playing for England in big tournaments. But Kalvin is happy at Leeds and has no desire to move whatsoever. It’s more a case of ‘carry on what you’re doing for club and country.”
Kalvin who has been a key figure in England’s successful run in the tournament has drawn a lot of attention from the Premier League clubs especially Manchester United and Liverpool. Many English players featuring in England’s Euro 2020 squad have seen their value skyrocket due to their own brilliant performances as well as the squad’s advancing into a major final for the first time after 1966. It will be a huge moment in England’s history when they face Italy in the Euro 2020 tournament final on Sunday, July 11 at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London.
Kalvin Phillips who graduated from the Leeds Youth academy has been doing great at Leeds United as well. He has been a regular starter at Leeds United for a couple of seasons. The 25-year-old was also a key figure in Leeds United’s successful championship run in the 2019/20 season through which they were promoted to the Premier League. Kalvin featured 29 times for Leeds United in the last season of the Premier League and managed to score 2 goals while he also provided 2 assists.
With the Whites having brought in some exciting signings for the next season, it would be interesting to watch the team and if they can really finish any higher than their last season’s impressive 9th place finish.
