According to reports from Al Arab, it appears that Leeds United forward Rodrigo is set to leave the club and join Al-Rayyan in Qatar.
The 32-year-old is expected to travel to Doha soon to finalize the move and agree on a contract with Al-Rayyan in the Qatari Stars League.
It has been widely reported that a release clause worth £2.6 million has become active as Rodrigo enters the final year of his contract with Leeds, coinciding with the club’s relegation to the Championship.
The departure of Rodrigo undoubtedly represents a substantial setback for Leeds, given his notable contributions as one of their standout performers in the previous season. Evidenced by his impressive record of scoring 13 goals in 31 league matches, his absence will be keenly felt by the team. His contributions were of utmost importance, as Leeds experienced a mere three defeats when he successfully scored a goal.
The departure of Rodrigo may elicit disappointment among Leeds supporters; however, it was a predictable outcome considering his exceptional skill set and the incongruity of his talent with the Championship level of play.
Rodrigo’s displays during the previous season showcased his exceptional abilities, and had his teammates exhibited a similar level of dedication, Leeds could have potentially preserved their position in the Premier League. He has achieved considerable professional success, having played in esteemed football leagues such as La Liga and the Premier League, while also representing the Spain national team.
It is comprehensible that he is currently contemplating a relocation to the Middle East in pursuit of a final lucrative opportunity.
