According to a report by Sports Walla, there is purported interest from Leeds United in acquiring the services of Djordje Jovanovic, a striker currently affiliated with Maccabi Tel Aviv and playing under the management of Robbie Keane.

Keane, who has recently assumed his inaugural managerial position at Maccabi Tel Aviv, will encounter the task of maintaining Jovanovic’s tenure.

The Serbian forward, aged 24, demonstrated a commendable performance during the 2022-2023 season, scoring an aggregate of 22 goals in 43 matches and receiving three international appearances for the Serbian national team.

Although Leeds United have indicated their interest in Jovanovic, a formal transfer has not yet been initiated.

Nevertheless, the report indicates that Maccabi Tel Aviv are keen on the move to create space for their emerging prospect, Dor Turgeman.

Keane retains Eren Zahavi, an experienced 35-year-old forward who demonstrated his prowess by netting 26 goals in the last season, as a pivotal member of his team.

Leeds interest in Jovanovic indicates potential need for a new forward, given the possible departures of players such as Rodrigo, who has been linked with transfers to Spain and Saudi Arabia, as well as the uncertain futures of Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, and Joe Gelhardt.

The ultimate determination will be contingent upon the number of strikers that Leeds ultimately opt to retain.

In the event that the team decides to separate from one or two forwards, Jovanovic may be considered as a prospective acquisition for the roster.
